Winter Fair 2020

The highlight of the Mill Road calendar is undoubtedly Mill Road Winter Fair. The first Saturday in December would usually see Mill Road packed with people enjoying music, dance, performance, art, food, talks and a whole host of activities. But this year is obviously going to be a bit different.

Not wanting to disappoint – and in any case it is a staple for the local community! – the organisers have arranged for this year’s Fair to be online. On their website you can find all sorts of contributions, from art exhibitors and storytelling through to history videos and a lantern trail. There is even a special tribute to Allan Brigham, much loved and missed community figure.

My Mill Road Winter Fair would usually involve a mulled wine or three at the Earl of Beaconsfield, some samosas and other delicious snacks at Al Amin, yummy curry at Lally’s, a visit to the Lifecraft compliments booth (they’re always lovely!) and music at the Argyle Street Housing Co-operative, but this year I shall be doing it all online. If you’re stuck for a mulled wine recipe, here’s one I made earlier: Homemade Wintery Mulled Wine.

Enjoy your Winter Fair!
